The Constitution Unit
The Constitution Unit, based in the School of Public Policy at UCL, is the UK’s foremost independent research body on constitutional change. The Unit’s FOI and DP team conducts research on FOI and DP in the UK and other jurisdictions. It is currently engaged in an in-depth study of the impact of UK FOIA upon central government.
The Ministry of Justice (MOJ)
The Ministry of Justice (MOJ) serves the public by providing the framework within which rights and responsibilities are promoted and enforced.
The Ministry is responsible for freedom of information policy in the UK and is responsible for data protection and data sharing, both domestically and representing the UK’s interests internationally.
The Information Commissioner
The Information Commissioner is the UK’s independent supervisory authority regulating the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) as well as the Freedom of Information Act 2000 (FOIA) and the Environmental Information Regulations 2004 (EIR). The Commissioner reports directly to the UK Parliament.
